After graduating from Fine Arts and Computer Science in Montreal, Canada, I moved to Boston and became a founding member of a biotech startup. Many work experiences later, I left to become one of the first employees of The Scripps Research Institute's new campus in Florida. Omics Informatics LLC

July 2017 - Present

Founded the organization which provides informatics services, data analysis, and software development for clients conducting research in the biological sciences.

Bioinformatics Director
Scripps Florida

September 2016 - July 2017

Directed the Bioinformatics Core at The Scripps Research Institute in Jupiter Florida, which supports all data analysis, software engineering, NGS pipeline analysis, and many other projects at the institute. Headed up the creation of a cross campus TSRI bioinformatics group named the Center of Computational Science.

April 2014 - September 2016

Managed, designed, and developed several applications to support the needs of the institute including: automated proteomics workflows, chemical inventory tracking, barcoding systems, distributed cluster computation, and differential MS analysis. Annotated and identified toxins in the C1 genome in collaboration with Dyadic, Inc. Developed peptide mass fingerprinting software "Pepsense", MS calibration software, and large scale multitouch systems for proteomics as shown on the TV show CSI NY.

Scientific Software Engineer
Scripps Florida

September 2004 - April 2014

Developed MS signal detection algorithms, "auto chro" software, Human SNP GWAS for cross comparison of disease families, and "Utopia" software for automated MS analysis. Worked with Max Plank to render high resolution neuronal image data onto a multi touch systems, developed and managed NGS data workflows. Parallelized the X!tandem search engine using Sun Grid Engine technology. PI and lead on SFP with Genentech for development of software for analysis of antibody MS1 data. Developed the Java based hydrogen/deuterium exchange analysis software “HDX Workbench" which is comprised of several data analysis tools and visualizations.

July 2003 – September 2004

Essential in the company’s development of the world’s premiere forensic kinship analysis package Bloodhound while working in the areas of computational genomics and enterprise software development. This platform has now been incorporated into the CODIS II software used by the U.S. DOJ. Supervised a staff of four engineers dedicated to the development of the platform driving Bloodhound compute engine, which was used to identify all known victims in the World Trade Center disaster.

April 2001 – July 2003

Founding member of Biosift and co-inventor of the genomic data integration and visualization system "Scintilla", which is a browser based, client server solution using Flash and MS SQL Server. Maintained network infrastructure, product research and development, requirements gathering, database administration, software, development, support and installation. Integrated publicly available databases containing genomic related data.

July 1995 – April 2001

Assisted client companies with IT strategy development. Developed internet strategy and implemented portals. Built numerous computational molecular biology and e-commerce solutions.

Characterized and wrapped published application programs and algorithms, developed Oracle table spaces and stored applications and translating data to appropriate formats.
